"And now may the LORD show loving kindness and truth to you; and I also will show this goodness to you, because you have done this thing."
2 Samuel 2:6
I have already received my first donations to my mission trip fund! What a glorious thing it is to feel the encouragement of others through such a gracious act! Thank you to those of you who have joined with me in prayer - it is such a blessing to have your thoughts with me and my team as we prepare for our trip.
My first individual fundraiser that I have planned is happening next Friday night - and I'm so excited for it! When I decided to be a part of this mission team, I began to look at what Jesus did for those He ministered to, to get an inside look at some of the things I can do for the people I come in contact with. What I found is that He bathed, clothed, and fed them. And while I do want to be just like Him, I think I may be taking His word a little too literally if I bathed and clothed my friends; so I am feeding them! Who doesn't know a college student who could use a cheap meal?
I'm planning on making a T O N of spaghetti and have invited nearly everyone I know that lives in close proximity. What I've asked them to bring is:
- a friend - whether I know the person they bring or not, I want my community of friends to grow, and the best way to do that, is to bring everyone together!
- an appetite - one of the most awkward things about hosting a dinner is when people arrive and no one eats. The food is for eating, people! So I've made it mandatory that my friends bring their appetites.
- a smile - I am incredibly blessed to have this opportunity to travel to Eastern Europe to share God's love in a way that will last longer than the 10 days I am there, and I want to share that joy with everyone I meet!
- pocket change - the donation for this meal will simply be any pocket change people can scrounge up. To make it a cheesy play on words, I want people to bring their change so that I can GO make a change in the world. How's that for enlightening thought at 11 am?
If you are reading this, and you live in or around Bellingham, and you have not heard of my Pasta Feed, and you don't have plans next Friday night (3/8), and you would like to attend - PLEASE DO!
Thank you all for your continued support, be blessed in His name.
